灰色的日子
回忆童年的日子里，家猫和野猫没太大区别，都在外面野放着，没人懂科学喂食，没人带猫去做绝育手术，甚至，很少有人能带猫去看病，常因为一点病症就永远地抛弃了他们。如同那个年代人类的村里娃一样，缺乏关怀，没少关爱，没有医院，只要不死就是幸福。吃着杂乱的成人食品，在混沌中长大，突然走失默默离去，少数猫咪会在我们面前永远地停止呼吸。至今我依然清晰记得那些离我而去的猫咪身影，无助的主人在那个社会中找不到任何援手……请原谅你们不称职的主人。
记得我第一次看到世界上有猫粮这个产品是在80年代的《Discovery 探索 》中文杂志版上--虽然这个刊物只存活了一年。记得有一篇采访9-Lifes猫粮公司的文章。这是我第一次知道世界上居然有为猫生产专门食物的公司，第一次知道了猫是纯食肉动物不能通过人类食物合成特定氨基酸，第一次看到了猫粮实验室和大型猫爬架。可惜一切是那样的遥远，猫粮对我来说就是一个传说。
感谢经济与社会的进步，我们和西方社会接轨了。黑暗的日子终将过去，传说中未来终于到来……至少对部分猫咪。
言归正传，宠物猫咪的地位随着人类生活水平的提高而提高，9 Lifes这家公司依然还健在，看起来还在生产全美国最低端的猫粮。
与时俱进，西方主流猫粮评价集锦
在消费者--消费猫的口味和健康需求之下，当今的宠物食品行业已经是一个巨大的产业链，而在世界物流如此发达的今天，我们几乎可以购买到世界上任何地方生产的猫食品 -- Thanks God。
但是国内爱猫论坛上充斥着太多主观贴，“香/不香”、“猫吐了”、“猫不喜欢”、“适口性高”、“便便硬/软”、“拉稀”……这些评论和中药一样没谱，离开那几只猫就没效果了，想想大家是被中医和小学老师坑害了——我们从小被人教育“不要强调客观”。
为什么不抛开“我家猫”，而仅从猫粮本身分析问题呢。本文由多个英文网站的评价综合而成，试图从科学和客观的角度出发来评价食物，加入了少量个人的理解。如有错漏之处敬请指出。
文中的一些名词解释：
杂食动物：狗（包括人类）是杂食动物，狗可以通过非肉类食品在体内合成全部营养物质，人也一样所以人吃素不会死掉。
肉食动物：需要注意的猫是纯肉食动物，无法依靠谷物合成体内必需营养物质，切忌猫科动物和你我不一样，猫科动物不吃肉会很快死掉。
谷物： 谷物经常作以凑份子的形式出现在猫粮中，其品质良莠不齐，从低到高分别是：碾碎的黄玉米、小麦，最好的是大米。猫其实是不需要谷物的，所以最好的猫粮中是不含谷物的。
完整肉类：就是一块完整的肉啦，人类吃的肉基本都是这个的……
肉类副产品By-Products ：在加工人类肉食中产生副产品(骨头、带骨肉等乱七八糟） 中国称之为下脚料。
高蛋白：高蛋白食物会减少你家猫的进食量。（农民工干吃馒头要8个，干吃红烧肉不过一碗就是这个道理……）
老年猫粮：大品牌系列中总是不缺乏低热量和减轻肾脏负担的老年猫粮，如果你家的猫年纪很大的话一定要注意饮食。
Whiskas (伟嘉猫粮）- 玛氏
品质：★

优点：在中国最容易获得低价猫粮。是中国服役时间最长的猫粮，虽然几年前闹过神舟特产三聚氰胺，但是鉴于其惊人的市场占有率和占有时间，该猫粮整体安全性值得信赖。
缺点：Very heavy corn use, by-products are top protein, brewers yeast, wheat present, artificial colors. 谷物过多，使用肉类副产品作为主要蛋白来源，含有啤酒酵母干，小麦，人工色素。
成分：Ground Yellow Corn, Chicken By-product Meal, Corn Gluten Meal, Animal Fat (Preserved with BHA/BHT), Natural Poultry Flavor, Wheat Flour, Rice, Brewers Dried Yeast, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Turkey By-product Meal, Caramel Color, Calcium Carbonate, dl-Methionine, Taurine, Trace Minerals (Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Potassium Iodide), White Fish Meal, Vitamins (dl-Alpha Tocopherol).
评价：之所以首先说非议颇多的伟嘉，因为这是第一个成功进入中国的猫粮品牌。这个猫粮的生产商是生产德芙巧克力和皇家猫粮的玛氏企业，在三年前伟嘉在中国的占有率超过90%。褒贬不是伟嘉在中国一大特色。伟嘉猫粮肾结石事件使该猫粮在网络上声明狼藉，虽然当年没人可以解释是什么产生了肾结石。但是在随后发生著名的Made in China谷朊粉事件杀死了超过1500只美国猫狗……
“2007年4月中期，美国FDA 经过严密检测，向中方提供详细检测结果并要求进入中国国内调查，不久后中国开始对国内违法企业进行追查。2007年5月中国开始对国内的出口饲料及原料商品增加了有关三聚氰胺的检测，此后把三聚氰胺的检测列入出口必检项目。但即使在种种事实和严重的质量安全危机面前，直至2007年7月某些高官依旧称：“……境外媒体对中国出口食品乃至出口商品质量安全问题的炒作，制造中国 商品威胁论，把中国商品妖魔化” (国家质检局长李长江,2007年7月“进一步加强产品质量安全监督工作会议上的讲话”）。 ” - 来源
随后同样的物质杀死了中国数目不明的婴儿，从而导致了一家奶制品企业破天荒地破产了。
有鉴于这种丧尽天良的下塑料粉手段难以追查，我们不能一味的责怪当年的伟嘉。个人以为玛氏产品的综合水准远在所有散装猫粮、国产自有品牌猫粮之上许多，伟嘉伙同喜悦应该是中国最容易获得安全猫粮之一。
Friskies 喜悦猫粮 - 雀巢普瑞纳
品质：★

优点：在中国最容易获得低价猫粮。确实含有一些普通肉类，不过成分很少。
缺点：Corn as first 2 ingredients, animal proteins are of very poor quality, soybeans, and salt is too far up ingredient list. 谷物是最重要的成分，动物蛋白质量不高用的都是副产品(by-products)，黄豆和盐分含量偏高。

评价：同伟嘉一道作为入门猫粮，好于任何散装或国有品牌。打个比方，如果将猫粮类比类婴儿食品，喜悦和伟嘉就是合资产品。国产猫粮是鹿鹿鹿奶粉。而散装猫粮就别买了，你会给新生的婴儿吃从自由市场麻袋里弄来的奶粉么？

品质：★★

优点：宠物店、网店最容易获取的猫粮之一。使用鸡肉、鱼油、完整的鸡蛋，大米作为主要谷物。
缺点：Corn as first 2 ingredients, animal proteins are of very poor quality, soybeans, and salt is too far up ingredient list. 谷物是最重要的成分，动物蛋白用的是副产品(by-products)，黄豆和盐分含量偏高。

优点：宠物店、网店最容易获取的猫粮。完整鸡肉，大米作为主要谷物、膳食纤维含量不错而且使用了鱼油。
缺点：Far too much corn used, rice hulls aren't beneficial, salt is somewhat high.谷物含量偏高，盐分偏高。

优点：Loaded with quality meats, no grains, eggs, fruits and vegetables, herring oil included. 上等肉为主料，含有鸡蛋、水果、蔬菜、鲱鱼油，而且没有谷物。你还能期待什么呢？
缺点：唯一的缺点就是太TMD贵了。
